scouted4you (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates the website at scouted4you.com and connects travellers with local scouts who publish travel guides. We are the data controller for personal information collected through the service.

We collect the following categories of data:

• Account data - name, email, password hash, and profile details you choose to share.
• Scout application data - location, bio, expertise, and links you submit when applying to become a scout.
• Purchase data - guides bought, billing details handled by our payment processor; we never store full card numbers.
• Usage data - pages viewed, referrer, device type, and approximate location derived from your IP.
• Communications - messages you send via contact forms or email.

We use personal data to:

• Provide and improve the service.
• Process payments and pay scouts their share of sales.
• Send transactional emails (receipts, account notices).
• Send marketing emails only with consent - and an unsubscribe link in every one.
• Detect fraud, abuse, and security issues.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We rely on the following bases under the EU General Data Protection Regulation:

• Contract - to deliver the service you signed up for.
• Consent - for marketing emails and non-essential cookies.
• Legitimate interest - for security, fraud prevention, and product analytics.
• Legal obligation - for tax records and lawful requests.

We share data only with:

• Payment processors to charge cards and pay scouts.
• Infrastructure providers (hosting, email, analytics) bound by data processing agreements.
• Authorities when required by valid legal process.

We do not sell personal data.

We keep account data while your account is active and for up to 24 months after closure to handle disputes and meet tax requirements. Purchase records are kept for the period required by tax law (up to seven years in some jurisdictions).

If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict your data, and to object to certain processing. Email privacy@scouted4you.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

We use a small set of cookies for authentication, security, and - with your consent - analytics. You can change cookie choices at any time via the cookie banner.

Some of our processors are based outside the EEA. Where data leaves the EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

We'll update this policy as the service grows. Material changes will be announced by email or an in-product notice at least 14 days before they take effect.
