Best Day Hikes in Levi (2026)

The climb up Levi fell to its rounded summit is the signature hike: open fell views in every direction over the Lapland wilderness, reached either on foot up marked paths or via Finland's first gondola (from 2000) if you'd rather save your legs for the descent. It's the quickest way to the big panorama, and the summit area has cafes and the lift if the weather turns. A must-do, and spectacular when the ruska colours the slopes.

A gentle, scenic loop around Lake Immeljärvi just outside the village, through pine forest and along the shore, this is the easy, family-friendly walk for a relaxed day or an evening in the long northern light. It's flat, well-marked and close to the centre, so it needs no planning, and the lake reflections are lovely in calm weather. The perfect leg-stretch between bigger fell hikes.

For a wilder, quieter fell than Levi itself, Kätkätunturi to the north-west is a rewarding longer day hike to an open summit with sweeping views and far fewer people. It's a proper fell walk, more effort and more remoteness than the Levi summit, and a taste of the raw Lapland landscape beyond the resort. One for hikers wanting solitude and a bigger objective.

They're ideal for an easy morning, for families, or for a rest day between skiing or biking, with no car or planning needed. The simplest way to get into the nature that surrounds the resort.
